Mark James & Edward Curtis
September 2, 2017 – January 2, 2018
The Dubuque Museum of Art will showcase the contemporary black and white landscape photographs of Mark James and the timeless photographs of Edward Curtis. Both James and Curtis share a Pictorialist style of photography. Curtis produced twenty volumes of photographs depicting the vanishing Native American culture at the dawn of the 20th century. The Dubuque Museum of Art holds one of the few intact 20-volume sets from Curtis’ legendary work. It is a special honor for Mark James to exhibit his photographs with those of Edward Curtis.
